Top Ten Toddler Music CD’s for Christmas - Music Lyrics For Free

Filed under: Music Lyrics Search — admin @ 12:09 am

Throughout my childhood, one of my favorite pastimes was listening and singing to music. Music stimulates the left-side of the brain and teaches children about various topics. In Japan, where I taught English to children and adults, I used a arrangement of teaching through the usage of music and story playing.

Now that winter has come to the Northern states of North America, children are forced to spend most of their free time indoors. This is the perfect time to take advantage of the free time and announce through playful music that can be accompanied by active movements. Your child will not only learn to use both sides of his/her brain but also get a little exercise in the meantime.

Here are some CD’s that are mountainous for children to spend those cold winter days indoors:

1. Best Friends by Ellen and Matt
This is a wonderful series of songs that were created by a husband and wife duo. It is filled with indie-pop and energy-filled ballads that won’t drive you as a parent crazy. My favorite song is Side by Side and Juice Box Rock.

2. Under the Mystic Sea by Maria Sangiolo:
This CD is filled with folk-pop music that urges children to be eco-friendly.

3. Miss Lori’s Campus: Music-n-Movement Together by Lori Holton Nash:
Written by the host of PBS named Lori Holton Nash is an upbeat dance routine that is almost as vigorous as a high-energy adult workout. It is the perfect CD to get the whole family exercising to the fun-filled pop music.

4. Classic Animal Songs Collection:
The songs contained in this collection are remarkable like the songs that I taught children with in Japan while learning English. It’s filled with a variety of music such as rock, pop and old-fashioned barbershop selections.

5. Snail Song and Magic Toast by The Sippy Cups
This is another favorite indie-pop collection that has swept the West-Coast by surprise for toddlers. The collection also contains a storybook sing-along which is an absolute favorite cooking program recipe for Magic Toast that will not only entertain the children in your family but also you.

6. Ninny Cow Tea:
This CD contains 58 fun-filled songs with lyrics actually done by 5 to 8 year olds. 100% of the artists earnings are donated to New Discovery School’s educational programs.

7.Snark-a-Snoops:What’s in the Water? :
This is one of the funniest music CD’s to listen to, even for parents. As the CD states, it is written by berserk scientists talking about everyday items and events such as the reason why shower-curtains stick to our legs when wet.

8. Dragontale: Fairy Friends:
In the light of the rise of Harry Potter books and mythical magic usage, this is the perfect CD for children. The quirky magical creatures and catchy tunes are perfect for both boys and girls.

9.Yellow Bus by Justin Roberts:
The awards for this CD speak for itself: 2001 Parents’ Choice GOLD Award; 2001 NAPPA GOLD Award (United Parenting Publications); 2001 Parents Guide Award; “Best of 2001: Editor’s Choice” - Booklist Magazine; and “Top 10 Children’s CD of 2001″ by Amazon.com. Roberts is from Chicago, Illinois and is noted as a truly fantastic folk-pop singer of his time. The songs include childhood issues that every child comes across with at least once such as riding the slow yellow school bus.

10.Crib Rock: Full Metal Diaper:
Being an 80’s baby, I understand the thrill of sharing with your baby the truly important songs. Get ‘em started young on the pleasurable stuff. This CD collection contains all the good 80’s hard rock songs in instrumental form. Instrumental music stimulates the baby’s IQ and/or emotional development. My two favorites are “Sweet Child of Mine” and “We’re Not Gonna Take it”.

The 10 Celebrities We Wish Would Write Their Own Autobiography - Top Motivational Songs Athletes

Filed under: Top Motivational Music — admin @ 5:39 pm

Don’t you wish there were some celebrities who would write their own autobiographies? They are very famous, yet we collected know very little about their lives before they became well known. What about their prove life off camera, except for the usual public relations sound bites and promotional tours? Everyone has a story to tell, but there are ten celebrities in particular whom we’ve seen in films, television, or heard on the radio and seen in concert most of our lives that we want to know more about.

Many of them will fall into one of two categories: literary genius or best-seller. All of them have best-seller potential of course; however, some have attended or graduated from college or university where their writing skills can make an autobiography truly stand out. While other celebrities have fascinating careers, in addition to a personal life, that will mesmerize us and is positive to be a best-selling autobiography. Here are ten celebrities we want to read of the triumphs and tribulations in their very absorb autobiography.

10.) Paula Abdul

Everyone knows her best as the former judge on American Idol from its first eight seasons of the reality TV competition show. She began her career as an LA Lakers cheerleader and, shortly thereafter, their head choreographer. Paula was then discovered by The Jacksons at a Lakers game. They wanted her to choreograph their music video for the single “Torture” and subsequently the Victory tour. Also, Paula Abdul choreographed sequences in films such as Big, Coming to America, Jerry Maguire, and American Beauty.

If that weren’t enough, she’s had a highly successful career as a pop singer with six #1 hit songs and selling 54 million albums worldwide. Here is an all-around entertainer with one of the most diverse careers in the industry. An autobiography from her would truly be a best-seller, especially if Paula reveals all of the backstage machinations behind the supposed glitz, glamour and camaraderie of American Idol. It is well known the contestants are under strict contractual guidelines not to reveal anything about the show ever. However, that may not apply with the judges who leave. Nevertheless, Paula Abdul still has a great career for a fascinating autobiography.

9.) Ashley Judd

According to her fansite, Ashley-Judd.com, Ashley is in the midst of writing her memoirs which should be released in 2011. There is a difference between a memoir and an autobiography. A memoir focuses on one aspect of a person’s life where an autobiography starts from the beginning in childhood to present day. It is not at all surprising she is writing about her life in some build presently. Ashley is the youngest daughter of Naomi Judd who had a successful career in country music as a duo with her oldest daughter, Wynonna. Ashley and Wynonna are half-sisters with different fathers.

Ashley’s legal birth name is Ashley Tyler Ciminella who was born in Southern California. She attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with honors in 1990 majoring in French with minors in theater, art history, and women’s studies. After graduation she moved to Hollywood, California to pursue an acting career which she successfully achieved. Now she’s devoted to her humanitarian cause, Youth AIDS, as their global ambassador. Ashley Judd’s life is fascinating, because her mother and sister have high profile careers as a motivational speaker, television star, and musician. Her path is extremely different from theirs. Ashley has acted in a television series and later in feature films. She is certainly talented enough to one day write her full-fledged autobiography.

8.) Kevin Spacey

A very talented actor in films and television has won two Academy Awards for acting. His multi talents also include being a director, screenwriter, producer, crooner, and presently the artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre in London. His performances in The Usual Suspects and Seven are still unforgettable. During his time while attending the Julliard School from 1979 to 1981 he tried his hand at stand-up comedy. However, the most plaguing part of his career stems from his personal life, which he vehemently guards. Writing an autobiography could dispel any of the rumors of his private life and speculation on being gay. Even though he dated Dianne Dreyer for nearly ten years, who is a script supervisor for such well-known directors as Anthony Minghella and M. Night Shyamalan, the rumors still persist. A Kevin Spacey autobiography, however, would be filled with insights into his extraordinary gift as an actor.

7.) Brad Pitt

Here is a name that needs little to no introduction whatsoever, yet we really don’t know very much about him. Yet, he is plastered on the supermarket tabloids every week for the last several years with his live-in girlfriend, the actress Angelina Jolie, along with their children. However, Brad is the late 20th century/early 21st century equivalent to the reclusive Greta Garbo. He rarely does interviews or the promotional circuit for his films. More emphasis has been on his personal life than his professional career. Nonetheless, he began his acting career with episodic television roles, most notably in “Dallas”.

It was his breakout role in the feature film “Thelma and Louise” that got everyone’s attention as a burgeoning sex symbol. From there he’s had vital success as an actor in the films Interview with the Vampire, Legends of the Fall, Seven, Twelve Monkeys, Ocean’s Eleven, Babel, and most recently Inglourious Basterds. Pitt attended the University of Missouri majoring in journalism. He was just two weeks shy of earning his degree when he decided to pursue acting by moving to Los Angeles. Brad Pitt could do his journalistic skills into a brilliant autobiography with a life well spent, especially his humanitarian work with Angelina Jolie.

6.) Jeff Bridges

We know of his phenomenal work as an actor in films, along with his older brother Beau and their late father, Lloyd Bridges, from television, yet on a personal level not considerable is actually reported about this enduring family of acclaimed actors. Jeff Bridges is poised in winning his first Oscar for Best Actor in Crazy Hearts. He has won all the other major awards thus far for his role in that film. Jeff has also given us mammoth performances in The Last Recount Show, Starman, The Fabulous Baker Boys, The Contender and Iron Man. More recently he’s lended his exceptionally commanding voice in television commercial voiceovers. Jeff Bridges is a man of many talents for he is one of the 80 featured musicians on the charity-single remake of “We Are the World 25″. There is no question an autobiography from him writing on growing up with his father, brother, and nephew as actors would make for some very fascinating reading.

5.) Mick Jagger

Now Sir Mick Jagger is the most famous and enduring frontman of the greatest rock band ever, The Rolling Stones. For over forty years as the lead vocalist of this legendary group he has certainly lived a very colorful life to say the least. It was while attending the London School of Economics when Mick left to pursue his music career with the Rolling Stones. They were the antithesis to the Beatles loving “mop top” image as they were the rebels of the British Invasion era. Mick and the boys were involved in many conflicts with authority figures regarding their drug use. Jagger has had numerous high profile romances and marriages that have only added to his lothario status. There have been a few unauthorized biographies written about the Rolling Stones, but it would be very fascinating to read an autobiography from Sir Mick.

4.) Robert Downey, Jr.

One of our most gifted actors he is equally versatile in drama and comedy. However, it is not unusual for someone of immense talent like that to have demons in their own personal and professional lives. From 1996 until 2001 Robert Downey, Jr. had been arrested on numerous occasions for drug-related charges and unsuccessfully went through drug treatment programs. When explaining his situation to the judge help in 1999, Downey stated he had been addicted to drugs since the age of eight years dilapidated. His father was also an addict and would give him drugs.

Eventually he spent almost a year incarcerated at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and Dwelling Prison in Corcoran. He was arrested once again in 2001, but thanks to California Proposition 36 he was spared serving more time in prison, since Downey was a non-violent drug offender. Instead, he was sentenced to drug rehabilitation and three years probation. Now his acting career is back on track with the extraordinary success in the lead role in Iron Man, a supporting role in Tropic Thunder, and starring in Sherlock Holmes as the title character. Interestingly enough, Robert Downey, Jr. was set to write his memoirs in 2006, but returned his advance to the publishers, thereby canceling the book project entirely without an explanation. Perhaps it is now time for him to reconsider writing his autobiography.

3.) Tiger Woods

His achievements in golfing are undeniable, ranked #1 in the world and the highest paid athlete ever in professional sports, Eldrick Tont Woods or simply Tiger Woods literally had it all. Much like gifted artists or athletes they oftentimes live double lives with an addiction of some sort. In the case of Woods it was not illegal drugs, booze, or prescribed medication. Instead, he let his ego get the best of him by having numerous affairs outside of his marriage. It all came crashing down when a tabloid magazine brought one of his affairs out publicly. Shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday in 2009 Tiger was involved in a minor car accident that fueled further speculation of domestic abuse in his marriage. This led to one confession after another from a long line of mistresses. Afterwards, his endorsement deals were canceled one by one. In mid-February 2010 Tiger Woods ended his silence on the ordeal with a carefully controlled press conference that was covered by virtually all the major TV networks. However, Woods has written an instruction column on golfing for Golf Digest. He has also written a best-selling golf instruction book that has sold 1.5 million copies. It would be in his best interest to write an autobiography based on the addiction he referred to in the press conference, rather than on the techniques of golf.

2.) Madonna

She has had success in the literary world with her series of children’s books starting with The English Roses, which became the fastest selling book for a first-time children’s author in 2003. Prior to that, she released a coffee table book back in 1992 which sold-out its entire first edition . Madonna needs no further introduction with her music career as she is the biggest female pop star in the world since the mid ’80’s. Her music videos redefined MTV and she’s always reinventing herself even to this day. It may be just a matter of time if and when Madonna decides to write her own autobiography. She definitely has a lot to section with us. Anything is possible with her.

1.) Meryl Streep

Considered one of the most talented and respected actors since the late 70’s Mary Louise “Meryl” Streep has been nominated for an Academy Award sixteen times, the most any actor has ever achieved in the award’s illustrious history. A college graduate she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from Vassar College. Later on Meryl attended the Yale School of Drama where she received her Masters of Fine Arts. After her graduation from Yale she began performing in New York theatre productions which eventually lead to her film roles that have been non-stop ever since. There is no doubt an autobiography from Meryl Streep would be filled with her tantalizing insights into her filming experiences. She is an excellent role model all-around. Who wouldn’t want to read her life epic from one of our greatest actress?

Those are the ten celebrities we wish would write their autobiography. Many of them have had unauthorized biographies written over the years, but it isn’t the same obviously. Of course timing has a lot to do with writing and then publishing an autobiography. Nevertheless, we are all eagerly awaiting if and when they ever decide to write theirs.

June is Black Music Month, Countdown of Shamontiel’s Top 30 African-American Artists - Pump Up Music List

Filed under: Motivational Music List — admin @ 9:00 am

President George W. Bush had a lot of screw-ups during his eight-year term, but he did do a couple things good. One of them was proclaiming June as Black Music Month on May 31, 2002. June is a exiguous over a week away, and to celebrate Black Music Month, I’ll be featuring one of my favorite artists each day, sharing my first or most personal memory of them, explain what their accomplishments are and why I felt they should effect the Black Music Month Top 30 list. There will be some oldies, some newbies and some artists who are in between stages.

My June 3 selection is Rakim Allah (birth name William Michael Griffin Jr.).

Black Music Month Heat Factor “Why’s this artist hot? “: We already know Lil’ Wayne drinks cough syrup so I understand why he’s delusional enough to believe he’s the best rapper alive, but whenever I hear people like Jay-Z say he’s “the best rapper alive,” I always check the Internet to make obvious Rakim is still breathing. As long as The Master is still breathing Earth’s air, there is no artist (yes, that includes Biggie and Tupac, too) who has ever graced a stage who is as talented as Rakim. Today’s hip-hop artists have Alzheimer’s tendencies and seem to forget the hip-hop pioneers. Hip-hop is combative, and I understand the need to be on top, but it’s just flat out unsuitable to forget the best that ever did it just because he’s not repeatedly blasting out of your well-liked local radio station. R&B artists always give homage to R&B legends, but hip-hop fair loves to conveniently ignore history or say things like “when he ruled hip-hop.” His talent didn’t diminish. Rakim just fell back a little.

Rakim made multisyllabic wording and lyrics with depth the norm, not the exception. Other artists took note and followed in his footsteps, not the other way around. However, there were some artists who do pay correct respect (ex. 50 Cent “My favorite rapper used to sing ch-check out my melody,” Tupac Shakur “Eric B. and Rakim was the sh*t to me” and Nas rhymed “U.B.R. (Unauthorized Biography of Rakim).”

First Memory, Most Personal Memory of the Artist: My brother is seven years older than me and introduced me to a lot of hip-hop groups, but it was my younger cousin who left a lasting impression of Rakim in my mind. I was hired to babysit her, and I thought we’d have big fun. She liked to dance and had a routine for Colourbox’s “Pump Up the Volume.” The only problem was she decided to dance after I’d let her eat a bunch of candy and ice cream, and she danced until she got sick. While she’s throwing up all over my basement floor, I’m listening to Eric B. and Rakim’s sample saying “Pump up the volume, dance, dance.” Outside of that dreadful memory, I recall seeing him on The Box when “Paid in Full” video was on, and I just kept thinking, “This guy is a cutie.”

Accomplishments from the Artist: In 1986, he started off with another lyricist named Eric B., and “Eric B. for President” put these artists on the map indefinitely. “Paid in Full,” “Follow the Leader” and “The 18th Letter“singles were bought by millions, and the album was referred to as “the greatest hip-hop album of all time.” He strolled onto the stage of Russell Simmons’ HBO’s “Def Poets,” and he performed a rhyme leaving with his notorious lines, “It ain’t where you from, it’s where you’re at.” I think everybody in the crowd recited that with him. He was also featured in a collabo song “Classic” with Kanye West, KRS One and Nas to celebrate Nike Air Force 1’s 25th anniversary.

And as much as men love and respect his music, the ladies dig it, too. They’re fans of the songs above but a special smile crosses their faces when Rakim talks about his joy with the opposite sex on songs like “Mahogany” and artist Truth Hurt’s song “Addicted.” He’s also one of very few artists who can talk about culture, news, women, the hood, and incorporate religion and scripture without losing his core audience. He may be too heavy for some, but not everybody wants to hear dumbed down music.

Other Black Music Month Selections: June 1 Trey Songz
June 2 Marvin Gaye
